Kindergarten - 5th Grade

This Month In KidZone:

HONOR is:
letting someone know you see how valuable they really are.

"Be devoted to one another in brotherly love.  Honor one another above yourselves."
Romans 12:10, NIV

Week One:

The Bottom Line: Show honor to those who are over you.

The Bible Story: Jesus turns water into wine (John 2:1-11)
Jesus honored his mother by listening to her, and the servants honored Jesus by doing what he asked.

This Week: Megan and Coach Kurt competed for the most beautiful bride.  Congratulations, Megan!

Week Two:

The Bottom Line:  Show honor to people who have been overlooked.

The Bible Story:  Jesus calls Matthew. (Matthew 9:9-13)
Matthew was a man whose profession as a tax collector brought him hatred from others  instead of love.  Though he was overlooked and not shown love, Jesus reached out to him and loved him as much as everyone else.

This Week: The Kindergarten - 1st Grade class was hard at work making silver coins from the Bible story!

Week Three:

The Bottom Line:  Honor Jesus with everything you've got.

The Bible Story:  A woman pours perfume on Jesus. (Luke 7:36-50)
The Pharisees invited Jesus in to their home but did not wash his feet, though it was common courtesy when a guest entered the household at the time.  A woman enters and weeps.  Though the woman was a well-known sinner, she realized the value of Jesus and honored him by washing his feet with her tears and costly perfume, and then drying them with her hair.

This Week: Ross guessed what Patrick molded out of Play-Doh to help their team win the Value on Display game!

Week Four:

The Bottom Line:  Honor Jesus out LOUD!

The Bible Story:  Children worship Jesus at the Temple (Matthew 21:1-12a, 14-16)
When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the children were shouting praises to Him.  This made the Pharisees very angry, and they tried to get Jesus to make them be quiet.  But Jesus loves to hear children praising His name!  He didn't ask them to be quiet, but supported them honoring Him out loud! Honor from children is important to Jesus.

This Week:  We had a shouting contest to see who could praise Jesus the loudest!

Week Five:
We are learning about navigating the Bible this week!

The Bottom Line:  Today we're learning how to find things in the Bible, and about how the Bible helps us know what's true.

The Bible Story:  Jesus rejected at Nazareth (Luke 4:14-30)
The world tries to tell you that all kinds of things are true.  There are a lot of people who believe in lies.  So how do we know what is true?  The Bible is the inspired Word of God (or, Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth) and we can always count on it to be true!

This Week:  Getting caught up in lies can get very confusing and binding.  This week our volunteers got all tangled up in 'lies' from the game!  We were very thankful that we could read the Bible to find the truths to free them again!
