Our Teachers
Jenny Deutsch
Jenny Deutsch is excited to be instructing in our K-4 classroom this year! She is a 29 year veteran homeschool mom, having taught all 5 of her now adult children from Preschool through High School graduation. In addition to teaching her own children, she has also taught in numerous daycares, summer camps and homeschool co-ops. Her greatest joy in teaching is helping children discover the wonders of God in the world around them. When she is not teaching, Jenny enjoys reading, arts and crafts, home DIY projects, and spoiling her 5 grandchildren! Jenny lives in State College with her husband, Kurt, her youngest son, Jakob, and their dog, Finn.
Timothy McDevitt
Tim has a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and is retired as an Associate Professor from ARL Penn State. He has taught junior/ senior level engineering at Penn State and he is looking forward to teaching Math and American Constitutional History for CCC. Tim’s interests include apologetics, creation science, and government. Since retirement he has self-published two books on creation science currently available on Amazon. His hobbies include reading, piano, and chess.
Joe King
Joe is a retired air force weather officer with an undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Astronomy and Astro Physics as well as meteorology. He pursued his education further with a masters degree in atmospheric science. Upon retiring from the Air Force, Joe taught weather and astronomy at he Harrisburg Community College for ten years. He now lives in Bellefonte, PA with his wife Joy and is looking forward to passing on his love of science, meteorology and astronomy to middle school students this year at C3 Co-op.
Tracy Ruffner
Tracy and her husband Cord live here in State College with their 7 children. Tracy has been homeschooling for the last 20 years, graduating 3 of her 7 with 4 still working their way through. She has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Lock Haven University. She has spent much of her adult life pouring into the next generation through children and youth ministry. She now serves as Children’s ministry director at Christ Community Church. Tracy has helped to start and build co-ops over the years, spending the last 7 years with Classical Conversations as a Director and Support Representative for the State College, Altoona and surrounding areas. She is passionate about teaching and training up the next generation to fulfill all that God has designed them to do and is looking forward to Directing and teaching middle and high school students this year at C3 Co-op.
Megan Elmer
Megan Elmer graduated from Penn State with a degree in Art Education and a minor in Art History. She also has a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Hood College. She taught elementary art in Maryland for over ten years. After taking time off to raise her own two kids (now 15 and 19), she taught preschool in Lemont at the Montessori School of the Nittany Valley until it closed in 2018. She has been teaching art to the home-school community for the past 4 years. Megan is also an artist, concentrating on painting and drawing in her spare time. She has also illustrated and published two coloring books.
Robert Whitaker
My name is Robert Whitaker and I am excited to teach middle school math at C3 Co-op. I have a BS Degree in Aeronautical Engineering, California Polytechnic Institute, San Luis Obispo, CA, a Master Degree in Aeronautical Systems, University of West Florida, and a Certified Secondary Physics Teacher, Penn State, State College, PA. I have had lots of experience as an Officer and Naval Aviator and worked in several companies as an engineer. I have also taught at Nittany Christian School of State College, PA – as a Math/Science/History Teacher 6th -8th Grade. I love kids and am looking forward to a great year!
