BASED ON ISAIAH 58:6-14 (TPT)

6This is the kind of fast that I desire: Remove the heavy chains of oppression! Stop exploiting your workers! Set free the crushed and mistreated! Break off every yoke of bondage!
7Share your food with the hungry! Provide for the homeless and bring them into your home! Clothe the naked! Don’t turn your back on your own flesh and blood!
8Then my favor will bathe you in sunlight until you are like the dawn bursting through a dark night. And then suddenly your healing will manifest. You will see your righteousness march out before you, and the glory of Yahweh will protect you from all harm!
9Then Yahweh will answer you when you pray. When you cry out for help, he will say, “I am here.” If you banish every form of oppression, the scornful accusations, and vicious slander,
10and if you offer yourselves in compassion for the hungry and relieve those in misery, then your dawning light will rise in the darkness and your gloom will turn into noonday splendor!
11Yahweh will always guide you where to go and what to do. He will fill you with refreshment even when you are in a dry, difficult place. He will continually restore strength to you, so you will flourish like a well-watered garden and like an ever-flowing, trustworthy spring of blessing.
12Your people will rebuild long-deserted ruins, building anew on foundations laid long before you. You will be known as Repairers of the Cities and Restorers of Communities.
13If you stop pursuing your own desires on my holy day, and refrain from disregarding the Sabbath, if you call the Sabbath a delightful pleasure and Yahweh’s holy day honorable, if you honor it properly by not chasing your own desires, serving your own interests, and speaking empty words,
14then you will find joyous bliss that comes from serving Yahweh. And I will cause you to prosper and be carried triumphantly over the high places of the land. You will enjoy the heritage of Jacob, your ancestor. Certainly the mouth of Yahweh has spoken it!

FASTING

The goal of fasting is to draw nearer to God. Biblical fasting always has to do with eliminating distractions for a spiritual purpose; it hits the reset button of our soul and renews us from the inside out. It also enables us to celebrate the goodness and mercy of God and prepares our hearts for all the good things God desires to bring into our lives. Remember, your personal fast should present a level of challenge, but it is very important to know your body, your options, and, most importantly, to seek God in prayer and follow what the Holy Spirit leads you to do.

TYPES OF FASTS

COMPLETE FAST
This fast calls for drinking only liquids, typically water with light juices as an option.

SELECTIVE FAST
This type of fast involves removing certain elements from your diet. One example of a selective fast is the
Daniel Fast, during which you remove meat, sweets, and bread from your diet and consume water and
juice for fluids and fruits and vegetables for food.

PARTIAL FAST
This fast is sometimes called the Jewish Fast and involves abstaining from eating any type of food in the
morning and afternoon. This can either correlate to specific times of the day, such as 6:00 am to 3:00 pm,
or from sunup to sundown.

SOUL FAST
This fast is common for those who do not have much experience fasting food, who have health issues that prevent them from fasting food, or who wish to refocus certain areas of their life that are out of balance. For instance, someone might select to abstain from using social media or watching television for the duration of the fast, and then choose to carefully bring that element back into their life in an orderly
fashion at the conclusion of the fast.

PRAYER

During our 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting, we will be holding 3 specific prayer times daily in our prayer room, as Daniel prayed 3 times a day (Daniel 6:10). These times will be 6am, Noon and 6pm. Each prayer time will last an hour. We are asking people to sign up for a prayer time(s) to make sure each of the times are covered. As always, our prayer room is open anytime the building is open; and we would love to see prayer going throughout each day.

We will make arrangements for people to get in the building for the 6am prayer time because the building doesn’t open until 6:30am. Please consider signing up for at least one, if not more, prayer times here. We will email you with instructions.

Thank you for joining us as we pray into all that God has for us individually and corporately in 2024.

DEVOTIONS

We are encouraging everyone to spend more time in the Word of God during our 21 Days of Fasting. What better way to “Prepare for More in ‘24”, then reading God’s Word together. We are going to use our Discipleship materials, which can be found below. As we go through these studies, diving into the scriptures, we will grow in our relationship with God. The Bible tells us in 2 Tim 3:16-17 (TPT), “God has transmitted his very substance into every Scripture, for it is God-breathed. It will empower you by its instruction and correction, giving you the strength to take the right direction and lead you deeper into the path of godliness. Then you will be God’s servant, fully mature and perfectly prepared to fulfill any assignment God gives you.”

We will also be better equipped to disciple others. Over the decades of our existence, CCC has numerous prophetic words calling us to be a catalyst for revival for our community. If we truly believe these words, then why not prepare for the increase. Jesus words in Matthew 9:37 (TPT) are very compelling, “He turned to his disciples and said, “The harvest is huge and ripe! But there are not enough harvesters to bring it all in.” Let’s prepare for the harvest together.
