Mitch Smith received Christ with his father, Joe, when he was only six years old. When he was sixteen the Lord gave him a supernatural burden to love people into the Kingdom of God, and he began planning his life accordingly. After graduating with a Bachelor in Business Administration from University of Kentucky, Mitch was blessed and sent out to Penn State University where he pioneered a campus ministry. Even though he’s in Pennsylvania, he continues to bleed for Kentucky basketball, which you will probably hear about in his preaching.
Mitch and his wife, Rebie, were led to turn their campus church into a community church in 1990. Their heart behind the transition was to “love the community into deeper relationships with Jesus.” They believe church is more than just Sunday morning, so the church took on a role as a community center to serve the public from sports events to birthday parties. Christ Community also serves as a hub for raising up leaders to respond to the great commission throughout the world. CCC is a missionary sending base that values the presence of God and will continue to grow in that direction.
